How to grow your character implies working on your personality, this involves showing how reliable and honest you are.

It also means that a person of character has the ability to deal with difficulty, unpleasant and dangerous situations effectively.

How to grow your character means, nurturing your reputation, integrity and good name. In order to build your character, you need to first notice what you are struggling with.

If you are struggling with humility, find resources that can help you learn how to be more humble and practice. If you struggle with self-discipline, set goals and work towards accomplishing them in the right way.

Billy Graham once said that when wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost.

1. Humility

Humility is the beginning of wisdom and that is how you grow your character, you must be open to new ways. How loyalty translates into making you a good leader is this, but also allow them to try and to fail.

When you are loyal to your colleagues, they’ll be loyal to you too and make every effort to succeed on your behalf and on behalf of the organization. There are few things that strengthen the leader-follower bond more than when a leader shows loyalty to a follower in need.

2. Do the right thing

Whether it’s “love others,” or ” do the right thing,” living by your principles will make decision making easier and your character more steadfast. Integrity is a good catchword that is similar to character but provides us with a different way of looking at the ideas of character.

For example, you don’t act one way in one situation and another in a different situation. There is integrity and wholeness to your life. Living this way will build trust in your followers.

3. Be intentional

People of good character don’t mind accountability. In fact, they welcome it.  The truth is that everyone has a blind spot and need other people’s input in order to achieve success.

The need for accountability doesn’t prove lack of character. Rather, it proves the presence of character.  Original sin is the only philosophy empirically validated by 3,500 years of human history. The person of good character knows this and invites others to speak into their life.

Integrity does not happen by accident. We are all products of our thoughts and habits. Be intentional about filling your mind with good thoughts. Create a habit of this internalizes principles and breeds high character.

4. Self control

Being of high character takes the ability to do what is right over what is easy. When people don’t exercise self-control, they sabotage their ability to lead. People lose respect for them and will follow less, if at all.

Self-control is the ability to choose to do the things you should and to refrain from doing the things you shouldn’t. When you exhibit self-control, you build trust and respect.

5. Be accountable

Surround yourself with people who have high expectations. Be responsible for yourself first. Lose the pride. Open yourself up to accountability. Let others push you to high character. When people don’t exercise self-control, they sabotage their ability to lead.
